This scratch-resistant and low-maintenance flooring solution for your home or office can be depended upon with confidence, and you can still enjoy the appearance of a solid hardwood at a fraction of the cost. MEIAH® sells quality laminate flooring to anyone meeting our minimum order size. All our laminate wood floors come with easy-to-install locking systems, a durable wear rating, and 15- to 25-year warranties.
HIGH PRESSURE LAMINATE TILE ON RAISED ACCESS FLOOR
High Pressure Laminate is the top surface selected for use on raised
access floors. It is commonly referred to as HPL. HPL is available
in a wide variety of colors.
High pressure laminate is used on access flooring around sensitive
equipment because of its excellent ability to dissipate static
electricity. The additional use of anti-static coatings is not
necessary.Don't ever let anyone put wax or an anti-static coating
on your access floor.
Standard grades of laminated floor tile have a volume resistance in
the range of 5 x 105 to 2 x 1010 ohms at 500 volts when tested at
50% RH and 72 degrees F. Typical values for volume resistance will
be in the 10 ohm range, depending on the laminate thickness. Once
installed, the floor's static performance will be regulated by how
clean the panels are kept.If you install the floor and never
maintain it, then you are setting up your facility for static
problems.HPL must be kept clean and free of residuals in order to
perform. In addition, the floor's electrical properties will be
affected by humidity, adhesives used, panel paint system and the
overall continuity to ground.
If you have vinyl or carpet on your panels, don't worry. We can
take the carpet off and install High Pressure Laminate.Just let us
know what your access floor problem is and we will help you find a
solution.
  TECHNICAL INFORMATION
  Description
Basic Use – MEIAH laminated flooring products are manufactured
specifically for floor surfacing on access flooring systems. They
comply with requirements for low static generation and retention,
coupled with a washable surface requiring no waxing.
Limitations - MEIAH laminated flooring products are not designed
for application on any sub-floor strata other than access floor
manufacturer's steel, aluminum, wood, or particle board floor
components. They are not recommended for exterior use.
Composition and Materials - MEIAH laminated flooring products are
manufactured using a specially formulated surface sheet over a
melamine impregnated print pattern sheet. The core layers of
phenolic impregnated kraft papers have been designed to control
dimensional stability. The laminate composition is pressed under
closely controlled pressures and temperatures. The back of the
laminate composition is sanded to maintain uniform thickness and to
facilitate bonding.
Grades - MEIAH LFT(laminate floor tile) is available in a variety of grades to suit most needs.
  Standard Grades:
  GRADE 1
  Nominal Thickness - 1/8" (3.2mm)
  Actual Thickness - .123" (3.1mm) +0-.011" (.28mm)
  Nominal Size - 24" x 24" (610mm x 610 mm) (or as ordered)
  Cutting Tolerance - +0-.020" (+0-.51mm)
  Diagonal Tolerance 0 within .035" (.9mm)
  GRADE 2
  Nominal thickness - 1/16" (1.6mm)
  Actual Thickness - .062" (1.6mm) +- .005" (.13mm)
   Note:
All grades may be purchased in either full size sheets (i.e., 4 ft.x 8 ft.) (121.92 cm x 243.84 cm) or cut-to size.
Proper grade of product needed is dependent on the total flooring
system requirements. When specifying an access floor, we recommend
that the floor manufacturer be contacted for proper specification.
Sizes - General industry requirements are a nominal 24" x 24" (60.96
cm x 60.96 cm), but other sizes are manufactured to order.
24" x 24" (60.96cm x 60.96 cm)
Colors and Patterns - MEIAH flooring products are offered in
patterns selected to meet most design and aesthetic requirements for
initial installation and future additions. The standard patterns are
manufactured to comply with light reflectance values as recommended
by leading computer manufacturers. (Other items in the MEIAH
laminates line are available on Laminated Floor Tile on a special
order basis.
Finish - Textured (a low sheen, matte finish). Applicable Standards:
Material Shall equal or exceed performance standards set by ANSI
(American National Standards Institute)/NEMA (National Electrical
Manufacturers Association) Publication LD3-1991 for high-pressure
decorative plastic laminate.
  INSTALLATION
Fabrication Data - MEIAH laminated flooring products should be
bonded to oil free steel, aluminum, plywood or particle board access
floor sections, with a moisture resistant adhesive in accordance
with adhesive manufacturer’s recommendations.
  COST
Varies according to grade, quantity and locale.
  Maintenance
Note: Never flood the floor with water or cleaning agents! MEIAH
laminated flooring products are easily cleaned in low traffic areas
by damp mopping with water and a mild, multi-purpose non-ammoniated
floor cleaner, mixed with water according to the
manufacturer's directions. Do not seal, wax, or mechanically buff
the floor.
HPL vs. VINYL TILE FOR ACCESS FLOOR INSTALLATIONS

HPL is available in a single sheet the same size as the access floor
panel and is applied during an automated assembly process at the
factory. It does not need to be waxed to be maintained, and it is an
excellent surface for dissipating static. High pressure laminate is
available in approximately 10 standard colors which coordinate with
most color schemes.
Vinyl Composition Tile or VCT is a more expensive covering which has
several factors which make it a less desirable covering for access
floor. Since VCT is only available in 12" tile, it must be hand
trimmed and applied at the factory. This is a labor intensive
process which adds significantly to the cost. Additionally, VCT
needs to be waxed to maintain a suitable appearance. Wax should
never be applied to a raised access floor for several reasons.
First, wax is an insulator. It provides a static barrier between the
access floor and sensitive computer and control equipment. The
raised access floor is designed as a complete system to dissipate
static. The static electricity which builds up in the room and
within the operator is drawn down through the access floor and its
understructure to the building's electrical grounding systems. Wax
will not allow this vital function to be performed. The static
electricity buildup will be discharged into sensitive equipment
rather than drawn away from it.
Second, wax will cause the access floor panels to stick together,
inhibiting the ready removal of panels for work under the floor.
Eventually the panels will be impossible to remove and the wax build
up along the sides of the panels will not allow them to fit
correctly into the understructure grid. Also, wax and dirt drips
will build up on the stringers and cause the panels to "rock" on the
understructure, which presents a dangerous tripping hazard.
Third is the problem of liquids and dirt seeping between the access
floor panels and causing possible cathodic damage to understructure,
grounding components and electrical wiring present under the floor.
Obviously, we strongly recommend the use of HPL and not VCT on any
access floor; however, we will be happy to provide you with any
surface covering that you desire.
